Scrapbook Paper Storage

Once you have been doing scrapbooking for a while, you will find that when you look through your lovingly made albums, you will see certain things that you tend to repeat. We all have our favorite techniques, and ones that we tend to repeat over and over, but the joy of scrapbooking is that no matter how much you use the same technique, you will never create the same page twice. Every page in your scrapbooking album will be unique as it should be, even if you use the same technique on all your layouts.

Looking through my albums, these are my three obvious favorites:

1. Tearing

This is obviously top of the list for me. Just about every second page has tearing somewhere in the layout. I tend to use this technique a lot to mat my photographs. I love the look of plain white card stock framing a photograph with a ragged look. This works especially well on black and white photographs.

I also enjoy tearing out sentiments or wording for my layouts. Maybe it is because tearing is such a quick technique and it has the element of surprise, as you never quite know how it is going to pan out.

Some of my backgrounds are torn in half and pasted onto another colored cardstock, which can also be very effective.

2. Puzzles

A couple of years ago I bought this wonderful little tool at the craft shop that cuts your photograph puzzle style. I then enjoy piecing the photograph back together, and then matting it with the corner piece slightly removed from the rest of the puzzle.

Another way of doing this that is also fun is to slice your photograph in random places and then join it up again leaving the pieces slightly apart. Make sure that you don't use your original photographs for this one.

3. Brads and Eyelets

Just about all my layouts have a brad, eyelet or both. I invested in a punch tool a few years ago, and have really gotten my moneys worth out of it. It is great for punching little holes anywhere on your layout for your brads, and also for setting your eyelets into place. A good tool will give you loads of different sized holes, and also options to upgrade for embossing.

Brads and eyelets are useful little goodies that can be used in loads of creative ways. You can attach embellishments or simply just decorate your layout.

scrapbook organize help?

Ok I live in a small 1 br apt. I have turned my closet into a scrapbook store lol cause i buy all my suppiles i need/want and i stash them in there cause i have no room no where else. This leads to me never scraping cause bring all that stuff out is a hassle. So i took it upon myself to set up a little space of my own in my husband and I bedroom (keep in mind he has all his game stuff taking over the room as well) I need advice and ideas on how to go about this. I have alot of paper so ideas on storage for that would be great. I also have my embellshments in photo boxs keeping them in there would be nice but finding a area for the boxs would be great too. Anything u can think of please let me know. Im wanted to add maybe some shelving as well. thanks so much!

My storage solution has been to use the white stackable modular cubes available at Michael's Craft Stores...

There are different ones:
*one with 4 shelves for scrapbook 12x12 paper
*one with 3 lovely drawers
*one with a shelf + a drawer that has dividers (great for tiny items like flowers or buttons)...

They have pegs you add to the top so you can stak them without them slipping...
