If you love scrapbooking and are lacking the space necessary to store all your supplies, it can be difficult and damper your motivation to do what you love to do, scrapbooking. Lack of scrapbook storage forces you to use cabinets and closets to store your scrapbook supplies. This will cause lack of motivation if you have to dig out your craft supplies to create a scrapbook.

When you start to collect enough supplies to really get busy, you need a designated scrapbook storage area so that you can sit down and instantly get busy creating. If you are easily able to find all the items you need, you will be more efficient and also excited to put together a scrapbook of your kids or family vacations.

Here are some ideas for scrapbook storage:

You can install shelves. There are many affordable options for shelves. If you are on a budget, head down to your local hardware store and pick out some boards and some L brackets. You can even paint them before you hang them up to match the decor of your room.

Remember that going vertical allows you to use wasted space. Install your shelves all the way to the ceiling if you want. You can store the lesser used crafts supplies at the very top.

Use plastic bins and label them so that they can be seen easily. You can store these bins on the shelves that you created.

For paper storage you can use paper bins. You know the type they use at the elementary schools? This will allow you to visually see what paper stock you have on hand. This is a great option, as these paper storage bins are fairly cheap.

Keeping your supplies organized is the biggest challenge for any serious scrapper. Scrapbooking has become so popular that companies are finely starting to cater to scrapbookers with scrapbook organizer.

So which of your supplies are in desperate need in organizing? Well, I vote all of it. But I would say paper is the number one supply that most scrappers complain about. And of course there are all the little things like, glue sticks, scissors, embellishments. These things are so small that they tend to get scattered everywhere. Not to mention occasionally loosing them on the floor. Only to find them later when you step on them.

But these small things are easily organized with small plastic scrapbook organizers. And at an affordable price as well.

Paper organizers can be found at an affordable prices as well. Plastic containers that allow you to separate each theme is the best to choose for easy viewing.

Scrapbook paper storage is one of the biggest challenges for scrappers. If you can come up with organizing ideas for your paper supply you can scrap with ease.

There are all kinds of scrapbook paper storage solutions on the market. The trick is finding one that fits your style. Do you want your paper organized in a fashion that enables you to quickly see what stock you have on hand or do you just just want it stored away nice and neat.

If you just want it stored away nice and neat you can use an old filing cabinet to organize by color and theme. You can then go through your filing cabinet and choose the paper you will be using today.

If you want to have your paper supply neatly organized so that you can see it, you need a filing system that displays your collection out in the open. Something like a wall mounted paper holder or a cubbyhole style paper holder works best.

Scrapbook Storage Furniture

Scrapbook storage furniture comes in many shapes and sizes. It’s hard to decide which type of scrapbook storage ideas you should go with. When trying to make a decision on where to start consider the following ideas.

You should first decide on how much you want to spend on your scrapbook storage furniture. There are some really lavish pieces of furniture out there for scrapbookers, but not all of us can afford such a nice piece. And even if you can, it can sometimes be hard to spend your money on these items when your money could be used elsewhere.

After you decide how much money you are willing to let go for your favorite hobby you should consider what it is that makes the biggest mess while you are working and creating your art.

The following are some of the complaints I hear most often:

  • Embellishments are all over the place
  • Digging through your paper supply and finding just what you need is a pain.
  • Glue sticks and scissors are always hiding under something

Embellishments being all over the place is the easiest and cheapest problem to solve. Small clear containers are an excellent way to control all those small pieces. This also enables you to, at a glance, decide which of your favorite embellishments are running low.

Paper stock is not as easy to manage as embellishments, but it can be done. The most affordable option are the stackable paper trays. You can set the stackable paper tray on a seperate table from you work space. With all the different colors and themes this makes it easy to see exactly what you have and allows you easy access to them.

For all the other small supplies that are always getting lost under your work, a pen caddy is perfect for the job. You can have your pens, glue sticks, scissors and other often used supplies sitting at the back of your workspace. If you need something, take it for a quick spin.
